gaylord dedicated wilfe (pronounced wil-fee) hinneh this past sunday. his dad is the academic dean and his mom the librarian at our bible school. his two older brothers and two older sisters are quite proud of him.

our missionaries from liberia to ghana introduced us to their third son, alfred, on their latest visit home. it was good to see mom and dad and to meet the newest member of their family. it was a little bit odd calling this llittle guy alfred without thinking about my dad, who has been using that name for 91 years.

Monrovia District Council–Vonzua

Late November afforded us the opportunity to attend the Monrovia District Council. Rain spoiled the outdoor setup the first day, as we had to move indoors for the meetings. But we were able to move outside the second day. Gaylord preached on missions and shared the national church’s church-planting initiative to be launched next year.

On the way home we drove to the town of Jundu to see the progress of a tabernacle that was erected by our colleagues the McGees. The roads were a challenge, but it was encouraging to see that the church structure is being completed.

We have heard about Robertsport ever since coming to Liberia, so we decided to drive there since we were this close.

We may not have bill boards, but we have traffic art just the same.

Nimba District Council–Bahn

District councils are held in November of each year.  It is not possible for us to attend all six councils, but we were privileged to attend two this year.  Nimba District convened early in the month in the town of Bahn.

District Superintendent Moses Dermie introduced Gaylord as he preached and shared the national church’s new church-planting initiative.  If you look closely at the second photo, you can tell how warm it was from the moisture on Gaylord’s shirt. The afternoon included a meeting with the district missions and evangelism team.

When traveling across the country, we try to visit with pastors and check on ministry projects.  Since Bahn is about a seven-hour drive from Monrovia, we had the opportunity to do that.  In Ganta Reverends Mesleh and Freeman showed us the newly-constructed Bible school and a possible site for the construction of a new church.

We also toured the construction site of the new district offices in Saclepea and another new church construction site in Duowin and saw our A/G church in Zanpea.

There was a rice field next to the church.  I had never seen rice growing before, so these ladies were kind enough to give me a tour.

Rainy season should be finishing soon, but for now it still lingers and creates challenges with the roads.

And then there are always random photos that depict life here so well.IMG_8198 (Small)IMG_8206 (Small)IMG_8218 (Small)IMG_8234 (Small)IMG_8278 (Small)
